Google is seeking a Data Center Manager to oversee server operations in Eemshaven, Netherlands. You'll manage a team of Data Center Technicians and ensure the quality installation and maintenance of server hardware and software. This role requires extensive experience in computing infrastructure and team management.
You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, along with a minimum of 8 years of experience in computing infrastructure, networking, operating systems, or hardware. Your background includes at least 5 years of experience managing technical teams, vendor management, and delivery, showcasing your ability to lead and improve team performance. You are fluent in both English and Dutch, enabling you to effectively support client relationship management in the region. Your experience in data center environments, particularly in building and operating infrastructure, as well as network and compute architecture, is a significant asset. You are also familiar with Linux/Unix system administration and have a track record of initiating and executing initiatives in a global environment.
As a Data Center Manager at Google, you will manage a team of Data Center Technicians, overseeing the quality installation of server hardware and components. You will take charge of complicated installations and troubleshooting, ensuring that your team installs, configures, tests, troubleshoots, and maintains hardware and server software, including Google's Linux cluster. You will also be responsible for the configuration of complex components such as networks, routers, hubs, bridges, switches, and networking protocols. Your role will involve leading small project teams on larger initiatives, communicating priorities, and facilitating the hand-off of operations to following shift leads. You will work collaboratively to identify and resolve problems, creating solutions that align with Google's global computing and network architecture. Additionally, you will manage the implementation of projects within your team, ensuring that data center-related priorities are consistent with company objectives.
