Venn is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to lead the development of financial services products. You'll work with Java to build scalable solutions for Canadian entrepreneurs. This role requires 5+ years of backend development experience.
You have over 5 years of professional experience in backend development, with a strong focus on building and scaling production-ready products from scratch. Your expertise in Java is complemented by your ability to navigate complex systems and ensure they are production-ready. You thrive in an entrepreneurial environment and possess excellent communication and organizational skills, which enable you to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Your experience includes working in fast-paced settings, ideally at early-stage startups or within the fintech sector. You understand the unique challenges that come with integrating banking partners and third-party APIs, and you are eager to contribute to a team that is redefining business banking in Canada. You are a quick learner with an ambitious and results-driven personality, ready to take on the challenges of a rapidly growing company.
Experience with payment products such as card issuing, money transfers, and credit solutions is a bonus. You may also have side projects that showcase your skills and passion for technology, further demonstrating your commitment to innovation in the fintech space.
In this role, you will lead the development of various financial services products, including transfers, cards, and lending solutions. You will ensure that these systems are production-ready and capable of supporting the needs of over 5,000 Canadian businesses. Collaborating closely with product owners, you will leverage your experience to understand and solve customer pain points effectively.
You will be responsible for integrating with banking partners and third-party APIs, enabling features such as virtual cards and international money transfers. Your role will require you to operate independently, making critical decisions that impact the product's success and the overall customer experience. You will work directly with other teams, including product, sales, and operations, to ensure alignment and drive the company's mission forward.
