Your deep understanding of GraphQL enables you to lead the design and implementation of core platform features, including API gateway capabilities and schema management tools. You are passionate about building developer platforms that empower engineers to deliver high-quality products efficiently.

You possess strong problem-solving skills and can drive architectural decisions that scale across a large ecosystem. Your experience with developer SDKs and tools enhances your ability to create solutions that are both user-friendly and powerful.

You are a proactive communicator, able to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. You understand the importance of gathering requirements from product teams and translating them into actionable development tasks. You are committed to fostering an inclusive and collaborative team culture.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms and microservices architecture is a plus. Familiarity with other API technologies and frameworks can enhance your contributions to the team. A background in financial technology or similar industries would be beneficial but is not required.

What you'll do

As a Senior Software Engineer on the GraphQL team, you will lead the design and implementation of core features that enhance our GraphQL infrastructure. You will collaborate with product teams across Block, including Square and Cash App, to understand their needs and build solutions that promote both internal and external API capabilities.

You will drive platform architecture decisions, ensuring that the solutions you implement are scalable and maintainable. Your role will involve developing API gateway capabilities and schema management tools that streamline the development process for product engineering teams.

You will work closely with other engineers to create developer SDKs that facilitate the integration of GraphQL into various applications. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of product teams across Block's ecosystem.

You will participate in code reviews and provide mentorship to junior engineers, helping them grow their skills and understanding of best practices in software development. Your leadership will help shape the technical direction of the GraphQL platform and ensure that it meets the evolving needs of the business.
