Who you are

You have extensive experience in backend engineering, particularly in building and optimizing database systems. Your background includes working with observability tools and you understand the intricacies of data ingestion processes. You are proficient in languages such as Java and Python, and you have hands-on experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes. You thrive in a remote-first environment and are comfortable collaborating with distributed teams across various time zones.

You have a strong understanding of database technologies, particularly PostgreSQL, and you are familiar with the challenges of scaling databases to handle large volumes of data. Your experience includes designing and implementing efficient data pipelines and ensuring data integrity and performance. You are passionate about open-source technologies and have a track record of contributing to or utilizing such tools in your projects.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for enhancing the Loki Ingest component of Grafana's observability platform. You will design and implement features that improve data ingestion efficiency and reliability, ensuring that users can seamlessly monitor their systems. You will collaborate closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and other backend engineers to define requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.

You will participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to your peers while also learning from their insights. Your role will involve troubleshooting and resolving issues that arise in production, ensuring that the system remains robust and performant. You will also contribute to the documentation of your work, helping to maintain clarity and knowledge sharing within the team.
