Airwallex is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to develop and maintain their financial platform. You'll work with Java and Spring to build scalable backend systems. This role requires strong expertise in backend engineering and experience with financial applications.
You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in building production systems that scale effectively. You’ve owned services from design through deployment and have a wealth of experience in debugging complex distributed systems issues. Your deep expertise in Java and Spring allows you to ship high-throughput APIs that handle millions of requests, and you have strong opinions on service architecture, dependency injection, and testing strategies. You thrive in collaborative environments and are motivated by the mission of empowering businesses through innovative financial solutions. You are curious and eager to learn, always looking for ways to improve processes and systems.
Experience in the financial technology sector is a plus, as is familiarity with payment processing systems. You are comfortable working with REST APIs and have a solid understanding of database management and optimization. You are also familiar with cloud services and have experience deploying applications in a cloud environment. Your ability to work with cross-functional teams will help you succeed in this role, as you will be collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers.
