Senior Data Engineering Manager, Financial Platform

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a strong background in building and maintaining data warehouses and lakehouse systems. Your expertise in financial data management enables you to oversee complex data pipelines and ensure data integrity across various financial domains. You are a natural leader, capable of managing and growing a team of data engineers while fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and excellence.

You possess a deep understanding of data architecture and analytics, allowing you to design and implement strategies that support operational decision-making. Your experience with automation and monitoring tools ensures that data products are reliable and meet the needs of finance and product teams. You are comfortable working with cross-functional teams and can communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.

Desirable

Experience with AI-driven decision support systems is a plus, as is familiarity with financial domains such as acquiring, issuing, chargebacks, and disputes. You are proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement and are always looking for ways to enhance data processes and systems.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead the FinPlat data engineering team, responsible for building and maintaining the financial data infrastructure that powers reporting, monitoring, and analytics across Block's payment and money movement flows. You will own the strategy and architecture for financial data pipelines, ensuring they are efficient, scalable, and secure. Your leadership will guide the team in delivering trusted data products that enable accurate operational decision-making for various partner teams.

You will collaborate closely with finance, product, and other stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into actionable data solutions. Your role will involve overseeing the development of data models and ensuring that data governance practices are followed. You will also be responsible for mentoring team members, helping them grow their skills, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
