Job Description

Who you are

You have extensive experience in avionics hardware development, ideally with a background in aerospace or related fields. Your leadership skills are complemented by a strong technical foundation, allowing you to guide teams through complex projects while fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. You thrive in environments where autonomy and ownership are encouraged, and you are passionate about solving challenging problems that push the boundaries of technology.

Your ability to communicate effectively across teams is essential, as you will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and design teams to ensure that avionics systems are integrated seamlessly into the Terran R vehicle. You are adept at managing the full lifecycle of hardware development, from initial design through testing and implementation, and you understand the importance of meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

You are committed to continuous improvement and are always looking for ways to enhance processes and systems. Your analytical mindset allows you to identify potential issues before they arise, ensuring that projects stay on track and meet quality standards. You are also dedicated to mentoring and developing team members, helping them grow their skills and advance their careers.

Desirable

Experience with rocket or aerospace systems is a plus, as is familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards. A background in software development or systems engineering can also be beneficial, as avionics systems often require interdisciplinary collaboration.

What you'll do

As the Director of Avionics Hardware Development, you will lead a team responsible for designing, building, testing, and operating the avionics systems for the Terran R rocket. You will oversee the development of hardware that connects and controls every major electrical system on the vehicle, ensuring that all components work together effectively. Your role will involve setting technical direction, defining project goals, and managing timelines to ensure successful delivery.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate avionics systems into the overall vehicle architecture, addressing any challenges that arise during the development process. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering a culture of innovation, where team members feel empowered to share ideas and contribute to the success of the project.

In addition to technical oversight, you will be responsible for managing budgets and resources, ensuring that projects are completed within scope and on time. You will also play a key role in stakeholder communication, providing updates on project status and addressing any concerns that may arise.

What we offer

At Relativity, you will have the opportunity to work on groundbreaking technology that is shaping the future of space exploration. We offer a competitive salary range of $263,000—$337,000 USD, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, retirement plans, and opportunities for professional development.
