Google is seeking a Data Center Technician III to manage and maintain server hardware and software in Dublin. You'll work with Linux operating systems and networking protocols, ensuring the optimal performance of data center operations.
You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with a solid background in computer hardware and server troubleshooting. Your experience includes working with operating systems and networking protocols, which allows you to effectively diagnose and resolve technical issues. You thrive in a collaborative environment, partnering with teams to overcome challenges and ensure smooth operations. Your familiarity with Linux operating systems is a key asset, as is your ability to manage projects and lead small teams in a data center or network operation center setting.
As a Data Center Technician III at Google, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware and server software, including Google's Linux cluster. Your role will involve the manual movement and installation of racks, which can be physically demanding but rewarding as you work with cutting-edge technology. You will also configure complex components such as networks, routers, hubs, bridges, and switches, ensuring that all systems operate efficiently. You will participate in or lead small project teams for larger installations, developing contingency plans to address potential issues. Your day-to-day tasks will include diagnosing and repairing broken equipment, including servers and networking devices, and resolving technical issues using various tools until a final resolution is achieved. You will communicate effectively with different stakeholders regarding the status of affected equipment and any ongoing technical challenges.
