Backend Infrastructure Engineer

Who you are

You have a strong background in backend engineering with hands-on experience in building production systems at scale. You understand the intricacies of reliability engineering and have a solid grasp of monitoring and observability methodologies. Your experience includes shipping services that handle significant traffic, and you have a track record of designing and implementing flexible domain models and APIs.

You are comfortable working across the stack, with a particular emphasis on backend and infrastructure. You possess a strong intuition for software development and deployment best practices, allowing you to quickly learn new tools and services. You are a proactive communicator, able to set and convey direction effectively to your team.

Your technical expertise includes working with modern cloud infrastructure and tools, and you are familiar with building secure and maintainable systems. You have experience in designing low-latency voice interfaces and audio processing pipelines, which are crucial for the role at Sesame.

Desirable

What you'll do

As a Backend Infrastructure Engineer at Sesame, you will be responsible for building a secure and maintainable core infrastructure that supports our vision of lifelike computers. You will work on developing a modern training architecture and a serving architecture that enhances our voice companion technology. Your role will involve scaling a low-latency voice interface and creating an efficient audio processing pipeline.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring that the infrastructure you build meets the needs of developers and end-users alike. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing systems that are reliable and scalable, as well as contributing to the overall architecture of our backend services.

You will also be involved in setting up monitoring and observability practices that ensure the health and performance of our systems. Your insights will help shape the direction of our infrastructure projects, and you will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and expertise.
