Senior DevOps engineer – AWS

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in DevOps engineering, with a strong focus on cloud infrastructure and automation. Your expertise in AWS allows you to architect and maintain scalable, secure systems that meet the needs of engineering teams. You understand the importance of observability and have hands-on experience with tools like Datadog to monitor and optimize performance. Your background in software development, particularly with TypeScript and Node.js, enables you to collaborate effectively with engineering teams and understand their challenges. You are passionate about enabling teams to self-serve their infrastructure needs and view the cloud platform as a product. You thrive in a hybrid work environment and are willing to travel to Bath and Edinburgh a couple of times a month.

Desirable

Experience with serverless architectures, particularly AWS Lambda, is a plus. Familiarity with container orchestration using ECS and messaging services like SQS will set you apart. You have a proactive approach to problem-solving and are always looking for ways to improve processes and systems. You enjoy mentoring junior engineers and sharing your knowledge with the team.

What you'll do

As a Senior DevOps Engineer at Seccl, you will be responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining the cloud infrastructure that supports our investment products. You will work closely with the Cloud Resilience team to empower squads to build and run their own services, ensuring they have the tools and resources they need to succeed. Your role will involve defining infrastructure as code using Terraform, enabling rapid deployment and scalability of services. You will also implement monitoring and alerting solutions using Datadog to ensure high availability and performance of our applications. Collaboration with software engineers will be key, as you help them understand the cloud platform and optimize their workflows. You will participate in regular team meetings to discuss ongoing projects and share insights on best practices in DevOps.
