JavaSeleniumTest automationAgileJira

Overview

AppDirect is hiring a Senior QA Engineer to define quality standards and build scalable testing strategies across multiple engineering squads. You'll work with Java and Selenium to enhance the reliability of their subscription commerce platform.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in quality assurance and automation testing, with a strong understanding of software development processes and methodologies. Your expertise in Java and Selenium allows you to build robust test automation frameworks that ensure high-quality software delivery. You are familiar with Agile methodologies and have experience working in cross-functional teams, collaborating closely with developers and product managers to define testing strategies. You possess excellent analytical skills and can identify potential quality issues early in the development cycle, ensuring that the final product meets the highest standards. You are a proactive communicator, able to articulate quality metrics and KPIs to stakeholders and influence engineering practices across the organization. You are passionate about mentoring junior engineers and fostering a culture of quality within your team.

Desirable

Experience with performance testing tools and techniques would be a plus, as well as familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins. Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure can enhance your contributions to the team. You are open to learning new technologies and adapting to the evolving landscape of software testing.

What you'll do

In this role, you will define what quality means across multiple squads of engineers, building scalable testing strategies that align with the company's goals. You will partner with engineering teams to determine what should be tested, how it should be tested, and why, ensuring consistent standards and meaningful coverage across the platform. You will not only focus on manual testing but will also drive the automation of testing processes, enabling engineers to execute with quality in mind. Your responsibilities will include owning key quality KPIs across the organization, such as resiliency and performance metrics, and ensuring that these are met consistently. You will lead initiatives to improve testing practices and tools, advocating for best practices in test automation and quality assurance. You will also participate in code reviews and provide feedback on testability and quality aspects of new features. Your impact will be felt across the organization as you help shape a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

You will have the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment, balancing remote work with in-office collaboration. We provide competitive compensation and benefits, including opportunities for professional development and growth within the company. Join us in enabling the new generation of digital entrepreneurs and making a significant impact in the subscription commerce space.
