Job Description

Come and join the team that delivers the CPUs in the M1/M2 Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch! At Apple, we focus on innovative design and principled execution to build the most efficient CPUs that scale across our full range of products and deliver industry-leading power and performance. We partner across hardware, software and systems teams to build truly optimized products and amazing user experiences. To accomplish this, we need technical excellence combined with the expertise to work across the organization and to put each decision in the right context. We are looking for a dedicated Engineering Program Manager or a technical leader who is passionate about getting into program management and encouraging the team to collaborate and deliver innovative designs within schedule constraints. The ideal candidate needs to be able to dig into sophisticated technical topics while balancing the strategic needs of the project and the tradeoffs involved in technology development.

Description

The CPU Engineering Project Manager will be working closely with the CPU architecture, logic design, verification, physical design, DFT and debug teams, as well as SoC, software, system and others to drive the full program lifecycle from spec definition through execution, tapeout, and support of post-silicon activities and debug. You will be embedded directly with the CPU design team and will drive the day-to-day project activities, as well as the longer-term initiatives. You will collaborate closely with the technical leads and be the main point of contact with other teams.

Minimum Qualifications

BS + 3 years of relevant experience. Proven Silicon development experience in Design, Verification, Implementation, Physical Design, DFT or silicon validation.

Preferred Qualifications

Proven CPU development experience. Established technical leadership and/or project management experience. Strong communication and executive presentation skills. Strong time and task leadership skills with consistent attention to detail. Strong organization skills to organize self and the team’s execution. Technical depth in one or more areas (architecture, logic, verification, physical design) and sufficient knowledge of others to understand tradeoffs and challenge the team. Can work together across multiple sites and multi-functionally throughout the entire organization. Able to build trust and lead through influence.

Responsibilities

Drive the development of CPU IP across several programs. Developing and negotiating project schedules and deliverables. Driving regular project meetings to focus the team on upcoming landmarks and to identify and resolve technical issues, pulling in the relevant experts and multi-functional stakeholders when necessary. Identifying risks and dependencies, generating mitigation plans and ensuring appropriate steps are taken to resolve. Communicating program status and blocking issues to multi-functional teams and different levels of management, as appropriate.
