Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with software development in C++ or more programming languages.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree or an advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience in software/hardware integration, system bring-up, and diagnostics.
- Experience with open source development or Open Compute Projects (OCP).
- Experience in the Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) (e.g., Automated Mainframe Intelligence (AMI) BMC or OpenBMC) or Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) development, machine management software development, or Linux kernel development.
- Experience in Python and scripting languages (e.g., Shell).

In this role, you will maintain and enhance the core software that runs on every server in Google's massive production fleet. You will be bringing the newest industry technologies and Google's custom silicon to life in the data centers. You will help to ensure the reliability and performance of servers, powering everything Google does. - Lead, design, implement, and measure next generation reliable and distributed machine monitoring and management software. Design messaging layers, implement C/C++ libraries, write system daemons, and participate in end-to-end system design, analysis, and measurement.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to plan and execute the engineering programs, including product development and productivity improvement.
- Mentor the team by modeling standards, providing feedback, and implementing practices to improve productivity.
- Develop technical and product roadmaps and influence executive decisions. Define and implement the best practices for multiple teams.
