Job Description

As Principal Risk Manager, Global Risk Management & Resilience, within World Wide Operations Security you'll spearhead our organization's global security risk strategy, driving transformative change across multiple business units. You'll leverage deep technical expertise and business acumen to architect innovative risk management frameworks, influencing senior leader decisions and shaping industry standards. Leading a team, you'll oversee translating complex security challenges into business opportunities. Your role will be pivotal in safeguarding operations and assets, while fostering a culture of security awareness. You'll partner with executives to align security initiatives with business objectives, and develop risk quantification methodologies. Your strategic vision will not only strengthen WWOS’s resilience but also position WWOS as a key business enabler, driving growth and maintaining stakeholder trust in an increasingly complex threat landscape.

A day in the life
You review security metrics and program performance data across global operations. You'll connect with geographically dispersed team members to align priorities across time zones and regions. You'll meet with leadership to prioritize and remove barriers to execution. You'll collaborate with WWOS and Amazon Operations teams to evaluate and implement risk methodologies and solutions, while ensuring alignment with broader business objectives.

You'll analyze emerging threats and opportunities, make data-driven decisions in driving continuous improvement. You will also represent Amazon's thought leadership at industry events or engage with senior regulatory officials to advance innovative approaches to security risk and resilience.

About the team
We partner with stakeholders to secure Amazon's supply chain and integrate security into business decisions. Our approach includes preventing security risks, managing active incidents, and investigating security events to prevent recurrence. The Risk and Resilience team (GSRR) maintains frameworks protecting associates and business continuity through risk oversight, preparedness, contingency planning, and incident response. Working with global business leaders, the Risk Management and Resilience team (GRMR) provides strategic and operational support. Global and regional R&R teams monitor threats, assess risks, and drive preparedness to enable business adaptation and recovery during incidents and crises.
• Bachelor’s degree in Security, Safety, Business Continuity, Business Administration, or related field
• Experience in security risk management safety, with at least 5 years in leadership roles
• Experience in regulatory compliance programs
• Experience managing teams, including direct management of professional subject matter experts
• Experience with international supply chain and logistics operations across multiple regions globally
• Demonstrated success in developing and implementing quality assurance programs
• Experience with security performance metrics and analytics
• Proven track record implementing and managing risk and business continuity programs at scale
• Demonstrated experience in leading organizational change and driving cultural transformation
• Experience managing geographically dispersed teams across global operations
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including executive-level presentation experience
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
• Master's degree in Security, Safety, Business Continuity, Business Administration, or related field
• Track record of successful engagement with regulators at the senior level
• Strong stakeholder management skills, particularly in matrix organizations
• Demonstrated success in developing and executing long-term (5+ year) strategic plans
• Experience establishing security organizations as strategic business partners
