Google is hiring a Data Center Technician to install, configure, and maintain hardware and server software. You'll work with Linux systems and networking protocols in Omaha. This role requires experience in troubleshooting technical equipment.
You have experience with assembly of mechanical or electrical systems, or performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment. You are physically capable of lifting and moving equipment weighing up to 50lb and can exert yourself physically over extended periods, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling, and lifting. You are adaptable and can work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, and holidays. You have at least 1 year of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems and computer/server hardware or networking protocols. You are a collaborative team player who can effectively execute verbal and written instructions.
As a Data Center Technician at Google, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware such as servers and their components, as well as server software like Google's Linux cluster. You will perform component-level repairs and troubleshooting on IT equipment, ensuring that all hardware operates efficiently. You will also be involved in the configuration of complex components such as networks, routers, hubs, bridges, and switches. Your role will require you to disassemble equipment that has reached its end-of-life and perform preventative maintenance based on identified issues. You will work closely with your team to overcome challenges and ensure that all operations meet Google's security standards.
