Who you are

You have a strong background in data science, with experience in analyzing complex datasets and building machine learning models that drive business decisions. Your expertise in Python and SQL allows you to manipulate and analyze data effectively, while your understanding of statistical analysis helps you derive meaningful insights. You are familiar with distributed tools such as Spark and Hadoop, which you have used to handle large-scale data processing tasks. A PhD or MS in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, or Economics is part of your academic background, equipping you with the necessary skills to tackle challenging data problems.

You thrive in collaborative environments, partnering with cross-functional teams to understand their data needs and provide actionable insights. Your experience designing and running experiments enables you to leverage causal inference designs to inform product and business strategies. You are passionate about using data to influence decision-making and improve outcomes across various teams, including Product, Finance, and Risk.

Desirable

Experience with deploying models in production and adjusting model thresholds to improve performance is a plus. Familiarity with data visualization tools and techniques will help you communicate your findings effectively to stakeholders. You are always eager to learn and stay updated on the latest trends in data science and machine learning, which allows you to bring innovative solutions to the table.

What you'll do

As a Data Scientist at Stripe, you will partner with various teams to ensure they have the models, data products, and insights needed to make informed decisions. Your role will involve analyzing user data to understand needs and behaviors, preventing fraud, and optimizing charge flows. You will also work on forecasting key outcomes, managing liquidity, and quantifying risk exposure, contributing to the overall success of the business.

You will design and run complex experiments, analyzing the results to provide insights that drive product improvements and business strategies. Your ability to communicate findings clearly will be essential as you collaborate with Product, Finance, Payments, Security, and Risk teams. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the growth of the data science team.
