About the Team
Amazon Tax Platform Services is responsible for the end-to-end infrastructure that computes and manages tax obligations across Amazon's global marketplace. Our systems calculate sales tax, VAT, and other tax types for all physical and digital sales worldwide, generate tax-compliant invoices, and maintain audit-ready records in accordance with global regulations. We operate mission-critical, highly available services that must deliver correct results in real time, millions of times per second.

About the Role
We are looking for Software Development Engineers who are passionate about building large-scale distributed systems and delivering reliable, scalable, and high-performance services. As part of this team, you will work across the entire software development lifecycle—from system design and architecture to implementation, testing, deployment, and operations.
In this role, you will:
Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, distributed services that perform complex tax computations and generate regulatory-compliant documents.
Build resilient systems capable of handling thousands of transactions per second with low latency and high accuracy.
Apply software engineering best practices, including code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and robust monitoring.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, tax, and operations, to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Continuously improve system reliability, performance, and operational efficiency through innovation and automation.
Contribute to architectural decisions and long-term technical strategy in a fast-paced, agile development environment.- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
