You have over 5 years of experience in backend engineering, particularly in writing Python and utilizing frameworks like Flask and Django. Your background includes designing and deploying robust production APIs and backend services, which are essential for launching safety features at scale. You are also experienced in iterating on in-house tooling to enhance workflows, particularly in the context of Trust & Safety operations.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead the development of highly-visible, user-facing products that protect Discord's users. Your primary responsibilities will include designing, building, and deploying robust production APIs and backend services that support safety features at scale. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Design, Policy, Data Science, and Trust & Safety Operations, to create impactful solutions that enhance user safety.

You will iterate on in-house tooling to supercharge Trust & Safety workflows, ensuring that the tools you develop are efficient and effective. Your role will also involve responding rapidly to the ever-evolving abuse and compliance landscape, adapting your strategies and solutions as needed to meet new challenges. You will be at the forefront of making Discord's platform safer for hundreds of millions of users, and your contributions will be critical to the company's growth.
