The Role: Leader/ Director - Data Science
As a Director of Data Science, you’ll lead the data science roadmap and create data-driven and AI-powered solutions that enhance our customer experience, business insight, and decision-making capabilities. You’ll work on advanced machine learning models, Generative AI applications, and LLM-based systems to transform how we understand and serve our users. This is a high-impact role for someone who combines deep technical expertise with business acumen and product sense.
What You’ll Own:
End-to-End Model Development: Lead the design, training, deployment, and optimisation of machine learning and Generative AI models for business-critical applications.
LLM & GenAI Integration: Build and implement solutions leveraging LLMs (such as GPT, Claude, or LLaMA) for personalisation, recommendation systems, summarisation, or intelligent automation.
Data Strategy & Insights: Partner with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities where data science can create measurable business value.
Experimentation: Design A/B tests and run experiments to validate hypotheses and optimise user experiences.
Scalability & Performance: Ensure models are scalable, explainable, and production-ready.
Team management: Building and leading a high-performing team of data scientists.
Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering, Product, and Business teams to translate insights into actionable outcomes.
Who You Are:
10+ years of hands-on experience in Machine Learning, AI, or Data Science, preferably in a high-scale, product-led organisation.
Proven expertise in LLMs and Generative AI — including fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and integrating LLMs into real-world applications.
Strong foundation in Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain, Hugging Face, or similar frameworks.
Proficient in data analysis, feature engineering, model evaluation, and production deployment.
Excellent understanding of NLP, deep learning architectures, and ML Ops pipelines.
Strategic thinker who can balance long-term vision with short-term execution.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Bachelor’s/Master’s degree from a Tier-1 institute (IIT, IISc, BITS, ISI, etc.) preferred.
