2026 Summer Intern, PhD, Research, 3D/4D Scene Reconstruction and Understanding

Who you are

You are a PhD student with a strong foundation in machine learning and computer vision — you have experience in solving complex research problems and are eager to apply your knowledge to real-world scenarios. You possess programming skills in Python and are familiar with geometric foundation models and vision-language foundation models. You are comfortable presenting research findings to diverse audiences and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Desirable

Experience with reinforcement learning, generative modeling, or Bayesian inference would be a plus. You have a keen interest in autonomous driving technology and are excited about the potential impact of your work on improving mobility and safety.

What you'll do

As a Summer Intern at Waymo, you will tackle research problems related to scene reconstruction and understanding from real-world driving scenarios. You will prototype and iterate on various research ideas using Waymo's extensive internal driving data. Your role will involve collaborating with other research teams within Alphabet to foster innovation and share insights. You will present your research findings to a wide audience within Waymo, contributing to the overall mission of enhancing the Waymo Driver's capabilities.
