About the team:
Preserving Trust in Amazon with every customer, every transaction, every second is our mission. We do this by identifying and removing bad actors from the platform, while supporting a best-in-class customer experience. Amazon has hundreds of millions of customers, sellers, and developers all over the world that rely on Amazon products and services. Our success comes from preventing bad actors from abusing these products and undermining the trust customers have in them. We are handling massive scale. Amazon is one of a kind in the number of customers served, transactions processed, and products handled.


About the role:
We’re looking for a Systems Development Engineer-II with an interest in fraud prevention to help outwit the bad actors. They will be highly impactful with their overall quality influence for the organisation. They will work closely with a talented tech team of Software Development Engineers (SDEs), SDETs, SysDEs and Programmer Analysts to understand features and technical implementation, develop robust automation framework(s) that support Functional, Performance as well as API level testing/operational maintenance. They will set the standard for automation and working at scale, dive deep into technical issues, and work diligently to improve the customer experience. They are happiest when they are working with empowered, truly innovative engineers to meet great challenges. Finally, with their strong ownership bias, they have an infectious desire to continually improve how things are done. We use the most recent advances in machine learning and data collection to make real-time decisions to eliminate payment fraud at Amazon scale.


About the candidate:
The ideal candidate for our team is passionate about creative solutions to our technical problems. You have technical curiosity, drive for results, but at the same time you embody ownership at the business level and contribute to product development.


Basic qualifications:
· 3+ years of systems development experience;
· A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and work experience
· Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
· Experience with at least one modern scripting or programming language (C++, Java, Python, Ruby, etc.)
· Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
· Experience with Linux/Unix
· Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes


Preferred qualifications:
· Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
· Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
· Strong sense of ownership, including an ability to promote operational excellence.
· Experience with AWS platforms, services, and design patterns.
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
· Deep understanding of infrastructure automation delivered through the software development lifecycle in an API-enabled environment – including agile development, software architecture/patterns, and modern cloud services.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong technical communication with peers and non-technical cohorts.
· Experience of mentoring other engineers to maintain architectural vision and software quality and help them improve their skills.
- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
- Experience with Linux/Unix
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes- Experience with distributed systems at scale
