Senior Backend & Cloud Engineer (Java / Spring Boot)

Who you are

You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in building production systems that are robust and scalable. You’ve owned services from design through deployment and have navigated the complexities of debugging distributed systems. Your expertise in Java and Spring Boot is deep — you’ve shipped high-throughput APIs that handle millions of requests, and you have strong opinions on service architecture, dependency injection, and testing strategies. You are also familiar with cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS, and understand the importance of maintaining database integrity and security in production environments.

You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that backend systems are reliable and secure. You value ownership and system reliability, and you are excited about cloud-first architectures. What you'll do

As a Senior Backend & Cloud Engineer at Oowlish, you will be responsible for maintaining and scaling a robust backend infrastructure built on modern Java and AWS. You will build and maintain APIs, ensuring that they are efficient and secure while managing cloud infrastructure in production environments. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that backend systems are reliable, secure, and scalable. You will also have the opportunity to cross-train in an internal .NET/Azure ecosystem, supporting internal services during maintenance periods.
