Motional is seeking a Principal Engineer Team Lead for their Prediction & ML Planner team to drive the development of ML models for self-driving vehicles. You'll collaborate with top ML engineers and lead projects that enhance vehicle navigation capabilities. This role requires expertise in machine learning and a strong leadership background.
You have a Masters or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience — your academic background has equipped you with a deep understanding of machine learning principles and practices. Proven leadership skills are essential as you will be responsible for executing large, complex technical initiatives and managing a team of engineers.
You are passionate about Level 4 autonomous driving technology and excited by intellectual challenges — your enthusiasm for innovation drives you to stay at the forefront of advancements in the field. You have experience in defining and executing motion planning and prediction projects that improve self-driving vehicles’ capabilities to navigate complex traffic scenarios safely and comfortably.
Your technical expertise includes designing and implementing behavior models that leverage the latest advancements in machine learning, generative AI, and reinforcement learning — you are adept at productionizing and deploying solutions onto autonomous vehicle fleets. Collaboration is key for you; you enjoy working with perception, simulation, data platform, and integration teams to validate and enhance your products’ on-road performance.
You possess excellent communication skills, allowing you to effectively convey strategies, progress, and challenges to executive leadership — your ability to articulate complex ideas clearly is a significant asset in your role.
