Key Responsibilities
- Architecture & Technical Leadership: Designed scalable backend architectures for AI-assisted content workflows, optimizing LLM integration layers, stateful data models, and real-time technical decisions in collaboration with the Technical Principal.
- AI & LLM Development: Built and optimized LLM-powered systems using OpenAI and AWS Bedrock, developing advanced prompt architectures, context-window strategies, cost-tracking mechanisms, and versioned state management for long-form content generation.
- Backend & Infrastructure: Developed secure, scalable backend services and RESTful APIs on AWS, integrating with client platforms, implementing robust auth and data models, and setting up CI/CD, monitoring, and logging pipelines.
- Agile Collaboration & Delivery: Led and collaborated in agile workflows through daily pair programming, sprint ceremonies, client demos, rapid task-switching, and mentoring junior developers to ensure consistent delivery.
Must-have Skills
- 7+ years of software engineering experience building production web applications
- Deep expertise in AI/LLM development - hands-on experience building applications with OpenAI, Anthropic, or AWS Bedrock APIs
- Proven experience with prompt engineering, context window management, RAG systems, and AI cost optimization
- Strong backend development skills – Python, API design, database architecture, distributed systems
- Deep expertise in designing and building systems on AWS - Lambda, ECS, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, etc.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and iterative development practices
- Pair programming experience - comfortable working synchronously with other developers
- Ability to task-switch rapidly and reprioritize in fast-moving, high-stakes environments
- Excellent communication skills - can explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Nice-to-have:
- AI Tooling Proficiency: Leverage one or more AI tools to optimize and augment day-to-day work, including drafting, analysis, research, or process automation. Provide recommendations on effective AI use and identify opportunities to streamline workflows.
- Experience building generative AI applications at production scale
- Background in content management systems, publishing platforms, or creative tools
- Experience with complex state management for long-form, versioned content
- Familiarity with mobile backend development (iOS/Android)
- Knowledge of e-commerce and subscription platform integrations (Shopify, Recurly, Stripe)
- Prior work with publishing, media, or RPG
- Experience with real-time collaboration features (multiplayer editing, conflict resolution
