SpaceX is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer, Mechanical for the Starship program. You'll leverage your expertise in manufacturing engineering and quality assurance to enable supplier success. This role requires a strong understanding of fabrication processes and a commitment to high-quality standards.
You have a strong background in manufacturing engineering with practical experience in new product development and stabilized production — your expertise spans various fabrication processes including machining, welding, and inspections. You possess comprehensive knowledge of quality tools and methodologies, enabling you to drive supplier performance and mitigate risks effectively. Your leadership capabilities are complemented by a technical mindset, allowing you to solve emergent challenges at suppliers and ensure premium quality in components and assemblies. You are motivated by the mission to enable human life on Mars and are eager to take on new challenges in unfamiliar areas.
Experience with rocket or aerospace manufacturing processes is a plus, as is familiarity with advanced quality planning techniques. A background in working with suppliers to enhance their capabilities and performance will set you apart. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are comfortable navigating complex technical challenges.
In this role, you will serve as the technical point of contact for assigned parts and assemblies of the rocket, collaborating closely with suppliers to ensure they meet SpaceX's high standards. You will be responsible for solving emergent challenges and mitigating risks associated with supplier performance. Your role will involve conducting thorough inspections and assessments of fabrication processes to ensure compliance with quality standards. You will also work on developing and implementing quality assurance plans that align with the rapid design evolution of the Starship program. Your contributions will directly impact the success of the mission to Mars, as you enable suppliers to deliver high-quality components at ambitious volumes.
