Azure

Overview

Microsoft is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to push the boundaries of cloud technology within the Azure Core Compute team. You'll work on building next-generation cloud services and managing customer-facing compute resources. This role requires expertise in cloud technologies and a passion for innovation.

Job Description

Who you are

You are a Senior Software Engineer with a strong interest in cloud technology — you thrive on pushing the boundaries of what is possible and are eager to contribute to the next generation of cloud services. With a solid background in software engineering, you have experience in building scalable systems and managing complex infrastructure. You enjoy collaborating with diverse teams and are committed to delivering high-quality solutions that meet customer needs.

You have a deep understanding of cloud computing principles and are familiar with the challenges of managing customer-facing compute resources — whether it's virtual machines, containers, or bare metal servers, you know how to optimize performance and ensure reliability. Your technical expertise allows you to explore forward-looking technologies and adapt to hardware evolution, making you a valuable asset to any engineering team.

You are a proactive problem solver who enjoys ideating and creating innovative solutions — you have a track record of leading features that run on millions of nodes and understand the importance of meeting scale, elasticity, latency, and reliability demands. You are also passionate about mentoring others and sharing your knowledge to help grow the next generation of engineers.

Desirable

Experience with Azure services or similar cloud platforms is a plus — you are familiar with the latest trends in cloud technology and are eager to learn and adapt. You have a collaborative mindset and enjoy working in a culturally diverse environment, where you can contribute to a positive team culture.

What you'll do

As a Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft, you will join the Azure Core Compute team and play a pivotal role in building the next generation of cloud services — your work will directly impact how businesses scale and thrive in the cloud. You will lead the development of features that enhance the performance and reliability of customer-facing compute resources, ensuring that Azure remains a leader in the cloud computing space.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement solutions that meet the evolving needs of customers — your ability to think critically and innovate will be essential as you tackle complex challenges in cloud technology. You will also have the opportunity to explore new technologies and contribute to the evolution of the host operating system, leveraging hardware offloads and disaggregation to improve service delivery.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring industry-leading availability, reliability, performance, compliance, and security — you will monitor system performance and implement improvements as needed to maintain high standards. You will also have the freedom to provide thought leadership and contribute to engineering practices that drive innovation within the team.

What we offer

At Microsoft, you will be part of a mission-critical cloud platform that is transforming how businesses operate — you will work in a supportive environment that encourages creativity and collaboration. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. Join us and make a global impact while working with a talented and diverse team that values your contributions.
