SpaceX is hiring an Avionics Test Technician to perform acceptance and qualification testing of flight hardware. You'll work with environmental test chambers and electronic test equipment in Hawthorne, CA.
You have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate and at least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, or military environment. Your background has equipped you with the skills to work with various electronic test equipment and mechanical hand tools. You are detail-oriented and capable of documenting results clearly and precisely, ensuring that all work is recorded accurately in the shop floor management system. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are committed to achieving on-time delivery of all tasks assigned to you.
You possess a strong understanding of environmental testing processes and are familiar with programming and operating environmental test chambers and vibration shakers. Your experience allows you to assist design engineers in developing and documenting test procedures, as well as troubleshooting failures of parts and test equipment. You are proactive in identifying areas for efficiency improvements and are willing to contribute to 5S improvement projects.
An associate or bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field is preferred, along with prior experience in thermal testing. Your ability to work collaboratively with design engineers and contribute to the development of production processes for first-time production runs will set you apart.
As an Avionics Test Technician at SpaceX, you will perform acceptance and qualification testing of flight hardware, documenting results in a clear and complete manner. You will program and operate environmental test chambers and vibration shakers, using both basic and advanced electronic test equipment to run performance tests on various parts. Your role will involve setting up parts on test fixtures using mechanical hand tools and torque wrenches, ensuring that all work is conducted safely and efficiently.
You will be responsible for recording your work in the shop floor management system, self-monitoring your progress against fast-paced area benchmarks. Assisting design engineers will be a key part of your role, as you help develop and document test procedures while troubleshooting any failures of parts and test equipment that may arise during testing.
Additionally, you will assist with the development of production processes for first-time production runs, contributing to area efficiency and 5S improvement projects. Preventative maintenance activities on test equipment and data acquisition systems will also fall under your responsibilities, ensuring that all equipment is functioning optimally.
