You'll work with Python and machine learning technologies to solve complex behavioral driving issues. This role requires a PhD and significant experience in autonomous systems.
You hold a PhD and have extensive experience in software engineering, particularly in the realm of autonomous systems. Your background includes a strong focus on machine learning and deep learning, which you have applied to real-world problems in the automotive or robotics sectors. You are adept at designing and implementing solutions that enhance system performance and safety, and you thrive in collaborative environments where you can work closely with cross-functional teams.
You have a proven track record of building quantitative evaluation techniques that drive data-driven development. Your analytical skills allow you to assess complex systems and identify areas for improvement, ensuring that the Waymo Driver remains at the forefront of autonomous technology. Experience with large-scale data processing and simulation environments is a plus. As a Staff Software Engineer on the Planner Reasoning team, you will play a critical role in scaling the Waymo Driver's performance. You will collaborate with engineering leads and technical leads to design and implement horizontal solutions that address behavioral driving issues in new geographical areas. Your work will directly impact the Waymo Driver's ability to navigate complex environments safely and efficiently.
You will build and refine quantitative evaluation techniques that inform development decisions, ensuring that the Waymo Driver continues to improve its safety record as it expands into new cities.
