Wikimedia is seeking a Wikimania Scholarships and Volunteer Coordinator to manage scholarships and volunteer efforts for their annual conference. This role requires strong organizational skills and a passion for community engagement.
You have experience in coordinating events or managing community initiatives — you've successfully engaged volunteers and organized programs that foster community involvement. You understand the importance of inclusivity and accessibility in volunteer management, ensuring that all voices are heard and valued. You are detail-oriented and can manage multiple tasks simultaneously, ensuring that deadlines are met and that all aspects of the scholarship process run smoothly. You are comfortable working with diverse groups of people and can communicate effectively across different cultures and backgrounds. You are proactive in identifying challenges and finding solutions to enhance the volunteer experience. You are passionate about free knowledge and the mission of the Wikimedia Foundation, and you are eager to contribute to the success of the Wikimania conference.
In this role, you will coordinate the scholarship program for Wikimania, ensuring that applicants receive the support they need throughout the application process. You will work closely with volunteers to facilitate their involvement in the conference, providing guidance and resources to help them succeed. You will manage communications with scholarship recipients and volunteers, keeping them informed about important dates and requirements. You will also assist in organizing logistics for the conference, including coordinating schedules and managing event details. You will collaborate with various teams within the Wikimedia Foundation to ensure that the conference aligns with the organization's goals and values. You will gather feedback from participants to improve future events and enhance the overall experience for attendees. You will play a key role in promoting the conference and its initiatives, helping to raise awareness and encourage participation from the global Wikimedia community.
