Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Senior Propulsion Engineer to lead the development and qualification of Merlin engine propulsion systems. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure flightworthiness and drive reliability initiatives. This role requires expertise in MATLAB, Python, and C++.

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in propulsion engineering, with a strong background in developing and testing aerospace systems. Your expertise in MATLAB and Python allows you to perform complex simulations and analyses, ensuring the reliability of propulsion systems. You are proficient in C++ and have experience with embedded Linux, which enables you to work effectively on software that interfaces with hardware. You thrive in high-pressure environments and are comfortable making risk-conscious decisions to ensure mission success. Your collaborative spirit allows you to work seamlessly with engineers and technicians from various disciplines, fostering a culture of teamwork and innovation.

Desirable

Experience with rocket propulsion systems or aerospace engineering is a plus. Familiarity with hardware-in-the-loop testing and flight operations will set you apart. You have a passion for space exploration and a desire to contribute to groundbreaking technologies that enable human life on Mars.

What you'll do

As a Senior Propulsion Engineer at SpaceX, you will own critical spaceflight hardware, leading the development and qualification test campaigns for the Merlin engine. Your responsibilities will include performing design, analysis, and development engineering tasks, ensuring that the engine meets all flightworthiness criteria. You will interact with cross-functional teams, including production, test, avionics, and mission management, to drive initiatives that improve engine reliability and extend engine life.
