Overview

Google is seeking a Senior Global Commodity Manager to optimize procurement strategies for memory components. You'll leverage your expertise in semiconductor manufacturing and supplier relationships to enhance Google's infrastructure. This role requires 10 years of experience in commodity management and supply chain.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field or equivalent practical experience, along with 10 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management. Your background includes significant experience in semiconductor manufacturing technology, category or commodity management, contract negotiation, and supplier development. You are knowledgeable about the supply base for DRAM (dynamic random access memory) and various DRAM technologies, which allows you to effectively manage supplier relationships and performance in technology alignment, cost, quality, and delivery.

You possess an MBA or Master's degree in a technical or engineering field, which complements your extensive experience in commodity management or supply chain management within the data center or mission-critical industry. Your strategic mindset enables you to develop and execute sourcing and pricing strategies for server memory, ensuring that Google has the necessary supplies and equipment to support innovative product development.

What you'll do

As a Senior Global Commodity Manager at Google, you will lead cross-functional teams through the supplier selection process for new platforms and components. Your role involves conducting business discussions and securing comprehensive agreements with suppliers, ensuring that all agreements align with Google's operational goals. You will maintain a high level of industry expertise and stay informed about supplier and market conditions, which is crucial for optimizing total cost of ownership for Google's global infrastructure.

You will develop commodity strategies and execute them effectively, leveraging your wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships. Your responsibilities will include managing supplier performance in terms of cost, quality, and delivery, as well as implementing supply chain improvements that enhance operational efficiency. You will collaborate closely with Engineering teams to ensure that the supplies and equipment meet the production needs of innovative products.
