Formlabs is hiring a SLS Materials Scientist to develop world-class materials for 3D printing. You'll collaborate with product, hardware, and software teams while leveraging your expertise in materials science and polymer product development. This role requires hands-on experience and a solid understanding of material chemistry.
You have a solid understanding of the fundamentals of materials science and polymer product development — your background equips you to tackle challenges in creating innovative materials for 3D printing. You are a creative and resourceful problem-solver, balancing speed and scientific rigor in a dynamic environment. Your hands-on experience in thermo-plastic engineering allows you to effectively contribute to the development of structured experimental plans. You are passionate about testing and troubleshooting, not afraid to test hundreds of times to achieve the desired results. You love to harness data, designing and executing experiments that inform material formulations and improve performance.
As a SLS Materials Scientist at Formlabs, you will build world-class SLS materials for 3D printing, starting from initial lab explorations to validation and commercialization. You will drive materials research that directly shapes the next generation of SLS materials, ensuring they meet the needs of our diverse customer base. Partnering with product, hardware, and software teams, you will iterate and improve material performance based on customer feedback. Your role will involve developing structured experimental plans to evaluate material formulations in coordination with SLS print systems, balancing material chemistry, thermal dynamics, and printing parameters. You will also be responsible for documenting your findings and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration of new materials into our product offerings.
At Formlabs, we offer a competitive salary range of $80,000—$110,000 USD, along with equity in the form of RSUs. Your financial investment will grow with us in accordance with your impact.
