SpaceX is seeking a Test Engineer for their Avionics Test Lab to ensure the quality and functionality of flight hardware. You'll work with Python to write automation software and troubleshoot testing processes. This role requires a strong background in testing and avionics systems.
You have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and experience in testing avionics systems — you understand the complexities of environmental stress testing and functional screening of electronic hardware. You are skilled in writing automation software in Python, enabling you to interact effectively with flight hardware and test equipment. Your troubleshooting skills are top-notch, allowing you to modify codebases and implement fixes as needed. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with design and manufacturing engineers to solve high-complexity testing challenges. You are committed to driving continuous improvement efforts, focusing on increasing throughput and reducing costs to meet launch targets. You are detail-oriented and ensure that all avionics flight hardware meets SpaceX and customer requirements at the conclusion of the testing process.
As a Test Engineer in the Avionics Test Lab, you will own the success of flight hardware through rigorous testing procedures, including thermal and vibration tests. You will serve as the primary contact for any issues or stoppages that arise during testing, ensuring that all processes run smoothly. Your role will involve writing automation software in Python to facilitate interactions with flight hardware and test equipment, enhancing the efficiency of the testing process. You will troubleshoot test software, modifying the codebase to adjust test bounds and incorporate necessary updates. Collaboration is key in this role; you will work closely with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and production teams to address and resolve high-complexity testing challenges. You will also drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing throughput and reducing costs, all while ensuring that the testing processes align with SpaceX's high standards for quality and safety.
At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team focused on making human life multi-planetary. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development.
