Overview

Google is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer III to ensure the reliability and performance of Google Cloud's services. You'll work with Java and Python to design and troubleshoot large-scale distributed systems. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and 2 years of relevant experience.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. With at least 2 years of experience in software development, you are proficient in one or more programming languages, including Java and Python. You possess a strong understanding of large-scale distributed systems and have experience in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting them. Your background in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) has equipped you with the skills to build and run fault-tolerant systems, ensuring reliability and uptime for critical services. You thrive in a culture of intellectual curiosity and problem-solving, and you are eager to collaborate with diverse teams to tackle complex challenges.

Desirable

A Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering is preferred, along with additional experience in optimizing existing systems and building infrastructure through automation. Familiarity with cloud services and a proactive approach to managing system capacity and performance will set you apart.

What you'll do

As a Site Reliability Engineer at Google, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of Google Cloud's services. You will manage the complexities of scale unique to Google Cloud, utilizing your expertise in coding, algorithms, and system design. Your role will involve optimizing existing systems and building infrastructure while eliminating manual work through automation. You will participate in the team's on-call rotation to support production services, triaging product or system issues and debugging them by analyzing their sources and impacts. You will contribute to documentation and educational content, adapting it based on product updates and user feedback. Your work will directly impact the reliability and efficiency of services used by millions.
