You have a strong background in computational optics and experience in designing and optimizing image processing algorithms. Your expertise in Python and MATLAB allows you to develop innovative solutions for complex imaging challenges. You possess a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, enabling you to tackle real-time, resource-constrained problems effectively.

You have a solid understanding of optical systems and their applications in satellite technology. Your experience includes defining requirements for imaging systems and creating advanced processing pipelines for satellite imagery. You are adept at noise reduction, feature extraction, and data compression techniques, particularly in low-bandwidth scenarios. You are also familiar with next-generation star tracking systems and their importance for precise navigation in space environments.

You are a collaborative team player who enjoys working with cross-functional teams to drive innovation. Your problem-solving skills are complemented by your ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You are committed to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest advancements in optical technologies.

Desirable

Experience with machine learning techniques for image processing would be a plus. Familiarity with satellite communication systems and their operational challenges is also desirable. A background in physics or engineering related to optics can enhance your contributions to the team.

What you'll do

As a Computational Optics Engineer at SpaceX, you will design, develop, and optimize image processing algorithms for various optical products. Your primary focus will be on enhancing space-based imaging systems, which are critical for the Starlink satellite constellation. You will define requirements for imaging systems and innovate new imaging products by creating advanced processing pipelines. This includes implementing techniques for noise reduction, feature extraction, and data compression to ensure high-quality imagery in challenging environments.

You will advance next-generation star tracking systems through the development of novel algorithms that improve navigation accuracy.
