Job Description

Amazon is looking for a talented Compliance Program Manager to build and execute programs and mechanisms that boost Vendor Engagement and Experience for our Direct Import Product Compliance programs. This is an exciting and challenging position that provides operational Product Compliance support for cross-border imports. In this role, you will directly work with internal teams like Legal, Compliance Operations, Business, Product and engineering teams to deliver improved vendor experience and compliance processes.

You will be responsible to apply process improvement and risk-mitigation methodologies across our complex cross-functional risk programs. You will partner with Compliance operations team to rollout audit mechanisms, including testing and measuring their effectiveness. You will define risk programs, set objectives, and drive improvements to your space that are quantified with metrics.

You will draw from your strong program management skills, presenting organized plans that clearly articulate the problem statement, recommendations on solutions and milestones along the way. You will clearly identify timelines and owners, and drive progress to improve vendor experience while also scaling internal tools/processes.

In this role, you will earn trust of your key stakeholders through proactive and timely communication. You are expected to be agile towards changing business needs. Align on and communicate the changes that impact cross functional teams and customers, propose trade-offs where applicable. You will partner with business intelligence engineers to design, build and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for your programs. You will make data driven decisions and understand what risk tolerance levels are and make recommendations to your partner teams.


Key job responsibilities
- Lead large and complicated projects to drive risk mitigation and efficiency improvement of compliance operational and vendor engagement processes to support business expansion and rapid growth in new and existing marketplaces.
- Collaborate with Amazon’s worldwide Compliance teams, to establish and implement processes that ensures the products meet local regulatory requirements of destination importing country through compliance, vendor engagement and experience programs.
- Drive program level improvements through root cause identification and implementation of process improvements.
- You will propose solutions that are scalable across various customized technologies, business models and country regulatory regimes.

A day in the life
Your daily tasks involve examining obstacles to compliance and evaluating feedback from vendors through different channels. You will monitor the progress and current state of programs using metrics and internal resources. Part of your role involves handling escalations or issues that arise within programs. You will evaluate the effectiveness of existing control mechanisms and work closely with partners across different functions as well as key business stakeholders to validate compliance and improve processes. It is crucial to remain updated on process changes, understand associated risks, identify potential gaps in controls, and drive the implementation of efficient and effective controls to address those gaps.- 5+ years of program or project management experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience in developing, implementing, and managing medium to large scale, cross-functional operations, vendor or customer engagement and experience programs
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience identifying program requirements, propose solutions and metrics to scale the program and drive improvements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills, data driven with experience in establishing and tracking program metrics
- Proven ability to meet tight deadlines, multi-task, and prioritize workload
- Ability to speak, read and write fluent English- Experience with import/export compliance program management
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification
- Experience in data tools including SQL to track program metrics
- End to end process ownership; deals well with ambiguity, adept at clearly defining processes
