Overview

SpaceX is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the production of Merlin thrust chamber assemblies. You'll utilize your expertise in manufacturing processes and work with advanced propulsion technology. This role requires experience in machining, welding, and other manufacturing techniques.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a background in manufacturing engineering, with a focus on propulsion technologies — your experience includes developing solutions for complex manufacturing challenges in high-stakes environments. You are knowledgeable about various manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, and non-destructive testing, and you understand how these processes impact overall hardware performance. You thrive in collaborative settings, working with multi-disciplinary teams to analyze and resolve manufacturing discrepancies. Your creativity and problem-solving skills enable you to contribute to the design and development of new hardware, ensuring efficient production workflows.

Desirable

Experience with bi-propellant rocket engines or similar aerospace technologies is a plus — you are familiar with the unique challenges of manufacturing in the aerospace sector. A strong understanding of quality assurance practices and the ability to lead root cause analysis efforts will set you apart. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and can adapt to changing priorities while maintaining a focus on quality and safety.

What you'll do

As a Manufacturing Engineer at SpaceX, you will support the day-to-day production of Falcon and Merlin engine sub-assemblies — your role will involve developing and optimizing manufacturing processes to meet aggressive production schedules. You will serve as the subject matter expert for manufacturing processes, providing input into the design and development of new and existing hardware. Your responsibilities will include leading efforts to analyze recurring manufacturing discrepancies and their impact on hardware performance, collaborating with engineers to implement effective solutions.

You will also be involved in the integration of engine components, ensuring that all manufacturing processes are executed to the highest standards — this includes precision cleaning, heat treatment, and advanced mechanical assembly. Your work will directly contribute to the reliability and performance of SpaceX's propulsion systems, which are critical for launching satellites and ferrying humans to the International Space Station.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team dedicated to advancing human space exploration — you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies that push the boundaries of what is possible. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with a dynamic work environment that fosters innovation and collaboration. You will have the chance to grow your skills and advance your career while contributing to projects that have a meaningful impact on humanity's future in space.
