Waymo is seeking a 2026 Summer Intern for their Software Engineering team to work on machine learning models that enhance autonomous driving technology. You'll collaborate across teams and apply your skills in Python and machine learning. This internship is designed for MS/PhD students.
You are an MS or PhD student with a strong foundation in software engineering principles and a keen interest in machine learning. You have experience debugging and optimizing machine learning models, and you understand the importance of performance metrics in evaluating model success. You are eager to collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to impactful projects that advance autonomous driving technology. You possess excellent problem-solving skills and are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. You are open to learning and growing your skill set while applying your knowledge in a real-world setting. You believe in the mission of improving mobility and safety through technology.
In this internship, you will work closely with experienced engineers to debug and enhance machine learning models that assess vehicle behavior in both real-world and simulated environments. You will participate in team meetings, contribute to discussions about model performance, and help implement solutions that improve the Waymo Driver's capabilities. You will gain hands-on experience in applying state-of-the-art machine learning techniques to production systems, and you will have the opportunity to learn from industry leaders.
