Google is seeking a Data Center Technician to support server operations in Singapore. You'll be responsible for diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware and networking issues while performing component-level repairs. This role requires experience with mechanical or electrical systems and the ability to work non-standard hours.
You have experience with the assembly of mechanical or electrical systems, or performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment. You are skilled in diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols. You possess the physical ability to lift/move 50lb (23kg) of equipment and can exert yourself physically over extended periods, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling, and lifting. You are flexible and can work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, and holidays as required.
You hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, and you have completed the online Google IT Support Professional Certificate program. With at least 2 years of experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems and computer/server hardware or networking protocols, you are well-prepared for this role. You have experience performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on IT equipment or in a similar role, such as Systems Administration, Network Deployment Engineer, or Help Desk Technician. You have worked within a data center or network operation center environment and can collaborate effectively with teams to overcome challenges and adapt to changes in a dynamic work environment.
As a Data Center Technician at Google, you will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the physical infrastructure that supports Google's powerful search technology. You will install, configure, test, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure based on identified issues with defined solutions and limited guidance. You will also disassemble specific equipment that has reached its end-of-life via part replacement or maintenance, working closely with your team to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
You will diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and networking issues, ensuring that all systems are running optimally. Your role will involve collaborating with other technicians and engineers to identify and resolve issues quickly, minimizing downtime and maintaining high service levels. You will be expected to document your work and contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and procedures within the data center.
