Apple is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to enhance rendering performance and system efficiency for the visionOS Freeform team. You'll work with technologies like CoreAnimation, CoreGraphics, and Metal to deliver high-quality spatial experiences. This role requires 5+ years of experience in performance-sensitive systems.
You have 5+ years of experience shipping complex software, particularly in performance-sensitive systems or applications. Your strong background in graphics and rendering on Apple platforms such as CoreAnimation, CoreGraphics, and Metal sets you apart. You have demonstrated experience working on rendering pipelines, frame scheduling, and GPU/CPU coordination, showcasing your ability to profile, diagnose, and improve performance, responsiveness, and efficiency.
You are adept at translating architectural direction into concrete execution, influencing technical decisions through careful measurement and engineering judgment. Your commitment to quality is evident through your participation in code reviews, design discussions, and mentorship of junior engineers. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with platform and performance teams across Apple to drive high-impact fixes and improvements.
Experience with cross-layer systems debugging and a deep understanding of application behavior will be beneficial. Familiarity with system scheduling and memory management is a plus, as is a passion for creating smooth, responsive, and power-efficient spatial experiences.
In this role, you will focus on delivering smooth and responsive spatial experiences on Apple Vision Pro. You will investigate performance and power issues, driving high-impact fixes that enhance the user experience. Your work will span application behavior, system scheduling, memory, and rendering, ensuring that improvements are durable and production-ready.
You will collaborate with various teams to address complex systems challenges across visionOS, iOS, and macOS. As the product and platform mature, your role will evolve, allowing you to contribute broadly to the development of innovative solutions. You will be responsible for translating real-world usage into actionable improvements, ensuring that the user experience remains seamless and engaging.
Your influence will extend to technical decisions, where you will apply your engineering judgment to measure and assess the impact of changes. You will participate in code reviews and design discussions, raising the quality of the codebase and mentoring less experienced engineers to foster their growth.
