SpaceX is hiring a Data Engineer for their Ground Network Engineering team to optimize the deployment and reliability of Starlink's infrastructure. You'll work with Python, SQL, and AWS to develop data pipelines and forecasting models. This role requires experience in data engineering and logistics optimization.
You have a strong background in data engineering with experience in building and optimizing data pipelines — you've successfully managed end-to-end workflows and understand the intricacies of logistics and supply chain operations. Your proficiency in Python and SQL allows you to develop robust systems that enhance operational efficiency.
You are familiar with cloud technologies, particularly AWS, and have experience using tools like Airflow for orchestrating complex data workflows. Your knowledge of Docker enables you to create containerized applications that streamline deployment processes. You understand the importance of predictive modeling and have worked with forecasting engines to anticipate hardware demand effectively.
You thrive in collaborative environments and can communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders — your ability to work cross-functionally ensures that you can integrate planning, logistics, and inventory systems seamlessly. You are detail-oriented and have a knack for problem-solving, which helps you identify areas for improvement in existing processes.
Experience with ERP/MRP systems is a plus, as is familiarity with APIs from third-party logistics service providers. You are eager to learn and adapt to new technologies, and you are motivated by the mission of enabling human life on Mars through innovative engineering solutions.
In this role, you will own the deployment and optimization of Starlink's Ground Network processes — your primary responsibility will be to develop and automate systems that optimize the flow of critical hardware and spare parts through inventory and logistics. You will analyze telemetry data and implement predictive failure models to enhance operational reliability.
You will build and maintain forecasting engines that predict hardware demand based on deployment planning and program targets — your insights will directly impact the efficiency of Starlink's infrastructure deployment worldwide. You will architect backend services and APIs that integrate various systems, ensuring smooth communication between planning, logistics, and inventory management.
Collaboration will be key as you work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and implement improvements in the deployment process. You will also be responsible for monitoring the performance of the systems you develop, making adjustments as necessary to ensure optimal functionality.
At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team that is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology and exploration. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will have the chance to work on groundbreaking projects that have a real impact on the future of humanity.
We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — we value diverse perspectives and are committed to building a team that reflects the world we live in. Join us in our mission to make life multi-planetary.
