Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience with analysis of medical devices, consumer goods/products/electronics, aerospace/defense, adhesive/resin selection, solar, materials analysis.
  • Experience working with lab tools (microscope, balance) and utilizing lab tools to answer questions.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical/Chemical/Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics.
  • Experience with potting and polishing samples.
  • Experience with inspection equipment (X-ray, CT), and scanning electron microscopy.
  • Experience programming in 1 or more of the following languages: MATLAB, Python, R, JavaScript, C/C++ or GenAI.
  • Experience in experimental automation, instrument control, data analysis tools, numerical simulations, or statistical analyses.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, including international travel as needed.
As a Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in creating new consumer electronic products that meet a high bar for reliability and performance. You will work closely with the product management and design engineering teams to define standards, specify tests, and then supervise test execution and failure analysis. A broad engineering background and command of statistical methods will help to inform design of new products. Your strong people management and communication skills will be key to ensuring adoption of your technical recommendations.   • Contribute to the investigation of hardware device failures, including but not limited to: materials, electrical, and component quality.
  • Apply scientific principles and investigative techniques to identify the fundamental causes of hardware device failures.
  • Utilize techniques such as microscopy, CT, and basic electrical probing to identify failure modes. Be responsible for sample preparation, including pot and polish and teardown.
  • Develop clear failure analysis documentation that can be read by both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Develop and optimize new analytical methods and laboratory procedures to address emerging challenges and improve failure analysis capabilities.
