Pulley is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to architect and build foundational systems for their AI-native product. You'll work with technologies like Python, REST API, and AWS to enable intelligent automation of equity workflows. This role requires significant backend engineering experience.
You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in building scalable production systems. You’ve owned services from design through deployment and have a deep understanding of debugging complex distributed systems issues. Your expertise in Python and REST API development allows you to create efficient and robust backend solutions. You are familiar with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes, which you use to streamline deployment processes. Your experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, enables you to design and implement scalable architectures that meet the demands of modern applications. You also have a solid grasp of database management, particularly with PostgreSQL, and are comfortable working with GraphQL for API design.
Experience with AI and machine learning concepts is a plus, as you will be working on systems that automate equity workflows. Familiarity with agile methodologies and collaborative tools will help you thrive in our high-performing team environment. You are a proactive communicator who enjoys collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions.
In this role, you will architect and build the foundational systems that power Pulley’s AI-native product. You will own the design and implementation of scalable backend services that enable intelligent agents to automate complex equity workflows. This is a unique 0-1 opportunity where you will define service boundaries, design APIs, and build distributed systems that enhance our product offerings. You will collaborate closely with product managers and AI engineers to ensure that the backend systems align with the overall product vision. Your contributions will directly impact how startups manage their equity, making it easier for founders to focus on building their businesses. You will also be responsible for maintaining high standards of code quality and performance, conducting code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers as they grow in their roles.
