Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in building scalable systems that handle high volumes of data and transactions. Your background includes working with APIs, ensuring they are performant and reliable for both internal and external clients.

You possess strong programming skills in Java and Python, enabling you to develop robust applications that meet the needs of traders. Your understanding of REST APIs allows you to design and implement efficient data access methods, ensuring that clients can retrieve trading data seamlessly.

You are familiar with the cryptocurrency market and understand the unique challenges it presents, including the need for low latency and high availability in trading systems. Your experience in financial technology or trading platforms is a significant asset.

You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working with cross-functional teams, including data scientists and product managers, to deliver high-quality software solutions. Your problem-solving skills enable you to tackle complex issues and optimize system performance.

What you'll do

As a Senior Software Engineer at BitMEX, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining APIs that provide access to a vast array of trading-related data. You will work closely with the Trading and Market Data team to ensure that our clients can efficiently query real-time position and order book information.

You will design and implement features that enhance the performance and reliability of our trading platform, ensuring that it can handle thousands of queries per second without compromising on speed or accuracy. Your role will involve writing clean, maintainable code and conducting thorough testing to ensure the highest quality of software.

Collaboration is key in this role, as you will partner with other engineers and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications. You will participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to your peers and helping to foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
