Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong background in designing and building scalable systems that enhance customer experiences. You are proficient in Java and Python, and you understand how to leverage these technologies to create efficient and effective solutions. Your experience includes working with cloud platforms like AWS, and you are familiar with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. You have a solid understanding of REST API design and implementation, which allows you to create seamless integrations between various systems. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Design, AI, Data, and Operations to deliver high-quality solutions. You are self-motivated and take ownership of your work, ensuring that you meet deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality. You are also comfortable with the responsibilities of being self-employed in Ireland, managing your own tax and social security obligations.

Desirable

Experience with conversational AI workflows and customer self-service systems would be a plus, as these are key components of the projects you will be working on. Familiarity with internal agent platforms and AI-driven solutions will also enhance your ability to contribute effectively to the team.

What you'll do

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Customer Experience Platform team, you will design, build, and evolve the core systems that support Hopper’s post-booking experience. Your work will directly impact millions of travelers by enabling fast, high-quality support through various channels including chat, voice, and web. You will collaborate closely with Product and Design teams to create intelligent customer service systems that enhance user satisfaction. You will also work on internal tools that empower support agents to resolve customer issues efficiently. Your role will involve developing conversational AI workflows that improve customer interactions and streamline processes. You will be responsible for ensuring that the systems you build are scalable and can handle high volumes of traffic, particularly during peak travel seasons. You will participate in code reviews and contribute to the overall technical direction of the team, sharing your expertise and mentoring junior engineers. You will also be involved in the deployment and monitoring of applications, ensuring that they perform optimally in production environments.
