Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer for Raptor Turbomachinery to develop and optimize production processes for key components of the Raptor engine. You'll work with AutoCAD and SolidWorks to drive innovative manufacturing solutions in Hawthorne, CA.

Who you are

You have a background in manufacturing engineering with experience in developing and optimizing production processes for complex components — your creativity and problem-solving skills enable you to tackle challenges in a fast-paced environment. You are proficient in tools like AutoCAD and SolidWorks, which you use to design tooling and processes that enhance production efficiency. Your ability to collaborate with design and development engineers ensures that you can effectively integrate new manufacturing capabilities into existing workflows. You maintain a strong sense of ownership over your projects, ensuring that all aspects of production meet high standards of quality and efficiency.

Desirable

Experience with turbomachinery components is a plus, as is familiarity with high-rate production environments. You are comfortable adapting to evolving design and production challenges, and you thrive on driving design and process changes that support program goals. Your innovative mindset allows you to develop unique solutions for balance correction methods tailored to specific part geometries.

What you'll do

As a Manufacturing Engineer for Raptor Turbomachinery at SpaceX, you will be responsible for developing and implementing manufacturing processes for key sub-assemblies and components of the Raptor engine. You will work closely with design and development engineers to ensure that production processes align with design specifications and quality standards. Your role will involve optimizing existing manufacturing approaches based on measurement and test data, allowing for continuous improvement in production efficiency.

You will also be tasked with designing tooling and processes that facilitate rapid and repeatable balance correction methods, ensuring that production targets are met without compromising quality. In this role, you will maintain a sense of ownership for all aspects of the engine turbopumps, from design through fabrication to delivery schedules. Your ability to think creatively will be essential as you implement new manufacturing capabilities and resolve conflicting requirements.

Collaboration is key in this position, as you will work with both internal and external fabrication shops to ensure that parts are produced to the highest standards. You will drive innovative production processes that support high-rate production targets, adapting to the fast-paced environment of SpaceX. Your contributions will directly impact the success of the Raptor engine program, helping to enable human life on Mars.
