AIML - Machine Learning Engineer, Responsible AI

Who you are

You have a strong background in machine learning, particularly in generative AI applications — your experience includes working with large language models and diffusion models for image generation. You understand the importance of safety and inclusivity in AI, and you are passionate about developing responsible AI technologies that align with ethical standards.

You possess excellent analytical skills and are adept at data sampling and curation for evaluation datasets — your ability to interpret and communicate complex evaluations is key to ensuring the safety of AI features. You are familiar with both human grading and model-based auto-grading methodologies, and you are eager to contribute to the development of innovative evaluation infrastructure.

What you'll do

In this role, you will assess, quantify, and improve the safety and inclusivity of Apple’s generative AI-powered features — your work will directly impact the future of Apple products and the broader AI landscape. You will tackle innovative problems in machine learning, focusing on developing methodologies for evaluating the safety of AI features.

You will conduct pre- and post-ship evaluations of Apple Intelligence features, leveraging both human grading and model-based auto-grading to ensure high-quality assessments. Your responsibilities will include researching and developing auto-grading methodologies that benefit ongoing and future safety evaluations.

You will collaborate with other engineers and researchers in the Responsible AI group, contributing to a wide array of new features and research initiatives in the generative AI space. Your role will involve thoughtful data sampling and curation for evaluation datasets, ensuring that evaluations uphold Apple’s Responsible AI values.
