You possess a solid understanding of infrastructure systems, particularly in load balancing and CDN technologies. You are skilled in technical mentorship, helping your team grow through coaching and performance management.

You are comfortable balancing technical contributions with people management, dedicating approximately 50-60% of your time to hands-on work while also focusing on hiring, promotions, and team dynamics. You understand the importance of keeping teams small and nimble to maximize ownership and minimize communication overhead.

Desirable

Experience with cloud infrastructure and services is a plus, as is familiarity with the challenges of serving billions of requests daily. You are open to learning new technologies and methodologies that can enhance your team's performance and the systems you manage.

What you'll do

As the Engineering Lead for HubSpot's Edge team, you will oversee the development and operation of critical infrastructure that supports the company's mission to help organizations grow better. You will lead a team of 6+ engineers, guiding them through the design and implementation of systems that are secure, reliable, and performant. Your role will involve hands-on coding, ensuring that you remain connected to the technical aspects of the projects your team undertakes.

You will be responsible for fostering a collaborative environment where engineers can thrive. This includes conducting regular one-on-ones to discuss career development, providing technical mentorship, and facilitating team discussions to ensure alignment on goals and priorities. You will also play a key role in hiring new talent, ensuring that the team continues to grow with skilled and passionate individuals.

In addition to technical leadership, you will be involved in strategic decision-making regarding the infrastructure's architecture and design. You will work closely with other engineering teams to ensure that the systems you develop integrate seamlessly with their projects, enabling them to deliver high-quality products quickly.
