Google is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to architect wireless connectivity solutions for the Android XR ecosystem. You'll leverage your expertise in wireless protocols and system performance testing. This role requires 6+ years of experience in wireless system architecture.
You have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, along with 6 years of experience in wireless system architecture, specifically with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technologies. Your background includes hands-on experience with wireless system performance testing and projection, allowing you to understand the intricacies of wireless protocols and their impact on system power and latency. You are familiar with split-rendering architectures and low-latency streaming technologies, such as Cloud Gaming and Miracast, which are essential for the role. Your experience extends to consumer electronics, particularly in the realm of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) headsets, giving you a unique perspective on the requirements for next-generation hardware experiences.
You possess a Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field, which enhances your ability to contribute to innovative solutions. Your familiarity with the Android software stack and connectivity frameworks positions you as a key player in the development of custom silicon solutions that power Google's direct-to-consumer products. You thrive in collaborative environments and are eager to work with industry standards and consortium representatives to push the boundaries of wireless connectivity.
In this role, you will define the optimal wireless hardware configuration for the Android XR ecosystem, ensuring that the architecture meets the high standards required for performance and efficiency. You will collaborate with Google representatives to provide feedback on XR-specific requirements into wireless standards, ensuring that the products you help develop are at the forefront of technology. Your work will involve close collaboration with perception teams to architect pipelines capable of offloading tasks with deterministic latency, even in congested Radio Frequency (RF) environments. You will also engage with chipset vendors to align their connectivity roadmaps with the requirements of Android XR, ensuring seamless integration and performance.
Your contributions will shape the next generation of hardware experiences, delivering unparalleled performance and efficiency. You will be part of a team that is dedicated to accelerating the mass adoption of spatial computing, where software and silicon must evolve as one. Your expertise will not only influence product development but also impact the way millions of users interact with technology.
At Google, you will be part of a culture that encourages innovation and collaboration. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology that is shaping the future of consumer electronics. The role offers competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will be surrounded by talented individuals who are passionate about pushing the boundaries of what is possible in wireless connectivity and spatial computing. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
