Gdpr

Overview

Affirm is seeking a Compliance Manager (DPO) to oversee the design and implementation of their EU Compliance & Privacy Framework. You'll ensure adherence to local regulatory requirements, including GDPR, while collaborating with various teams. This role is remote eligible and requires experience in regulatory compliance.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in compliance management, particularly in the context of EU regulations — your experience includes developing and maintaining compliance frameworks that align with local laws, including GDPR. You understand the importance of privacy and regulatory compliance in the financial sector and have a proven track record of implementing effective compliance programs. Your ability to communicate complex regulatory requirements to various stakeholders is one of your key strengths, and you thrive in collaborative environments where you can partner with different teams to achieve compliance goals.

You are detail-oriented and proactive in identifying potential compliance issues before they arise — your analytical skills enable you to assess risks effectively and develop remediation plans that are both practical and compliant with regulations. You are familiar with data protection laws and have experience working with data sources to inform decision-making processes. Your ability to train and advise teams on compliance matters is essential, as you believe that a well-informed team is crucial for maintaining compliance.

Desirable

Experience working as a Data Protection Officer (DPO) is a plus, as is familiarity with the Dutch Data Protection Authority's requirements. You have a background in the financial services industry, which gives you insight into the unique compliance challenges faced by companies in this sector. Your knowledge of compliance technologies and tools will help you streamline processes and enhance the effectiveness of the compliance program.

What you'll do

In this role, you will own and oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of Affirm’s EU Compliance & Privacy Framework — ensuring that all activities are in line with local regulatory requirements, particularly GDPR. You will develop and maintain policies, procedures, and controls that are proportionate to the risks identified, and you will work closely with various teams to ensure that compliance is integrated into all aspects of the business. Your responsibilities will include conducting compliance training sessions, monitoring compliance activities, and reporting on compliance status to senior management.

You will also be responsible for identifying potential compliance issues and developing remediation plans to address them — your analytical skills will be crucial in assessing risks and ensuring that the company remains compliant with all relevant regulations. As Affirm continues to expand across Europe, you will play a key role in supporting new products, markets, and initiatives, ensuring that compliance considerations are integrated from the outset.

What we offer

Affirm offers a flexible remote work environment, allowing you to work from anywhere in the Netherlands. You will be part of a dynamic team that values collaboration and innovation, and you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the company's compliance efforts. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement — your unique perspective and skills could be just what we need to strengthen our compliance framework.
